The 33rd member of the 3,000-hit club, and only the seventh player in major league history to hit 500 home runs, had a single against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.
The 39-year-old got his 3,000th hit in the first frame against Antonio Senzatela.
After getting to 2,999 hits the day before, Asdrubal Cabrera was walked in the eighth and final plate appearance of the game. The series opener against the Rockies was rained out on Friday and made up as part of a Saturday doubleheader.
The list of Latino players who have reached the 3,000-hit mark includes Roberto Clemente and Rod Carew, as well as Alex Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre and Albert Pujols. The only Venezuela-born player in the Hall of Fame is Luis Aparicio.
