2. Last-minute magic at Craven Cottage (Feb. 24, 2007)
The game appeared to be heading toward a fairly ordinary draw as United were outplayed by the hosts on the banks of the river. Sir Alex Ferguson leaped up and down on the touchline as the man came to life in the 88th minute to settle the game for United. Taking possession wide on the left flank, the winger scampered in toward the edge of the box and let fly with a low shot that clipped off the boot of defender Phillipe Christanval on its way into the back of the net. The win elevated United nine points above the chasing pack at the top of the table, and they will win the title.

While he may have become an unstoppable hat trick machine at Real Madrid, this was the only one he scored in his first stint at United. After a goalless first half against managerless Newcastle United in early 2008,Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a daisy-cutter free kick just five minutes after the restart, then scored twice more as United steamrollered their 10-man opponents to the tune of 6-0.

The best of the three free kicks was scored against Pompey, and it was part of a three-minute onslaught that saw him get both goals. The reigning PFA Player of the Year doubled his tally in the 13th minute when he lashed a powerfully swerving dead ball past a flummoxed and motionless David James from 25 yards out.

The ball was in the air as United demolished Villa at Old Trafford to go six points clear at the top of the league. After 17 minutes, the goal came when he reacted quickly to a crowded Villa box to send an impish flick through his legs and into the back of the net.

This goal against West Ham United is more memorable for the silken assist laid on by Dimitar Berbatov, who evaded his marker on the dead-ball line with a perfect pirouette before picking outRonaldo's sudden surge into the six-yard box. The two goals scored byRonaldo in the 2-0 win for United were crucial to closing the eight-point gap that had opened between themselves and leadersLiverpool at the top of the table.
One of the most exciting comeback victories of the season was achieved by United after a crucial penalty conversion byRonaldo. After a fairly risible first-half performance, the Red United were two goals down at the break and only for the crucial spot kick fromRonaldo to spark them back into life just before the hour mark. Ferguson&s side went on to score four further goals in a rapid final 23 minutes of the match as a rejuvenated United claimed an astonishing 5-2 victory that helped lay the foundation for the 2008 title that followed.
After 12 years away, the veteran forward scored twice for United in a thumping 4-1 victory over Newcastle United, with the home crowd cheering his every touch. Following Manquillo's 56th-minute leveller, United took the lead again as a low left-footed finish byRonaldo gave them their second goal.
After being eviscerated byLiverpool, United bounced back by beating Spurs in North London. Five minutes before the break,Ronaldo put theSolskjaer side ahead by getting on the end of a far-post cross and volleying it back across the Spurs goal. Solskjaer was relieved of his position the following month, but his determination to punish Spurs was not diminished by the time the two sides met for the return fixture in March. In the 3-2 win over Spurs, which began with a thunderous long-ranger, continued with a simple tap-in and ended with a towering headed goal, the inspiration for his side was once again provided byRonaldo, who scored all three goals.
In the recent 3-2 victory over Bournemouth, the 37 year old scored his 13th, 14th and 15th goals of the season with all three of United's goals, cementing his position as a modern day hat trick colossus.
It was the 30th career hat trick forRonaldo, exactly the same amount as before he hit the Big Three-O in February 2015. It is always nice to have a bit of statistical symmetry.
