Millions of women are being urged to take part in a consultation that could make a treatment available over the counter for the first time.

Aquiette could be reclassified so that it can be bought at a pharmacy without a prescription if the call for evidence succeeds.

One in six women in the UK are thought to have symptoms of bladder problems, such as a sudden need to urinate, which can lead to accidental leaks.

Women with milder symptoms of the condition can be treated with aquiette tablets.

People with the condition, as well as healthcare professionals with experience of treating it, are being asked to share their views in the reclassification consultation.

For many women, an over active bladder can make day-to-day living difficult. It can affect relationships, work, social life, and it can lead to anxiety and depression.

You will have a chance to have your say on whether or not Aquiette can be used for the first time without a prescription from today.

When it comes to sensitive issues such as bladder control, speaking to a GP may act as a barrier for some women to seek help.

The classification of Aquiette would allow women to get vital medication without a prescription.

The Commission on Human Medicines has advised that Aquiette can be purchased over the counter.

The consultation will last for three weeks.
