  • The UK is said to be sending armored vehicles to Ukraine.

  • The vehicle can shoot down aircraft.

  • The Stormers are going to be deployed to Ukraine.

The Times of London reported that the UK plans to send armored anti-aircraft vehicles to Ukraine.

The Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles are launched by the Stormer vehicles.

The UK sent a shipment of Starstreak to Ukraine in March.

The missiles have a range of up to seven kilometers, according to The Times. A video from early April appeared to show the Starstreak missile shooting down a helicopter.

The Times said that until now, Ukrainians have only been able to fire the British missiles using portable stands.

The paper said that the Stormer vehicles are easier to operate and Ukrainian forces will be able to fire the missile and leave.

The vehicle has a crew of three; a driver, commander, and gunner.

According to The Sun, a few Stormers will be deployed to Ukraine with 120 personnel carriers.

It can be loaded onto a plane and flown to Ukraine in a few days.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace is expected to make a statement in parliament this week about the provision of Stormers to Ukraine.

A source told the paper that the UK has committed to helping Ukraine with its anti-air capabilities.

The Ministry of Defence hosted a Ukrainian government delegation at the Salisbury Plain Training Area two weeks ago and is said to have demonstrated the technology, according to The Times.

As Russia continues with its offensive in the Donbas region, Britain has increased its heavy weaponry for Ukraine.

Western governments have only sent missiles to defend against Russian forces.

Colonel Richard Kemp, a former commander of British troops in Afghanistan, told The Times that the Stormer-Starstreak combination would boost Ukraine's fighting capability.

It is an extremely effective, highly mobile combat vehicle that will do severe damage to any attempts at low-level attack by Putin's air force.

Kemp told the paper that the move is likely to anger Moscow, which has already expressed displeasure with the West for sending weapons to Ukraine.

Ukrainian commanders told The Times of London that British special forces are training local troops in Kyiv for the first time since Russia invaded.

NLAWs, British-supplied anti-tank missiles, have been trained by the British soldiers.
