Tim Anderson was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball for giving fans the middle finger.

Anderson will play until the matter is resolved. He was in the lineup hitting leadoff.

The first two frames of the opener of the Chicago Cubs' game were filled with errors by Anderson. The 28-year-old made a gesture towards a fan while out in the field.

Anderson apologized for his actions on Friday. I take full responsibility for what I did. I have to learn from it and grow from it.

Anderson has been suspended twice this season. He served a two-game ban on opening weekend for making contact with an umpire. Anderson's suspension was reduced from three games to two.

Anderson is batting.300 and has a home run. He finished the season with a.301 average, 17 home runs and 61 runs scored to help lead the White Sox to an American League Central title.

Anderson made his sixth error in three games as the White Sox lost. He made 10 errors last season.
