Stephen A.: I don't want to see Deebo get contaminated by the Cowboys (0:41)

The Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of their official offseason program for the next two years, but the quarterback already feels different than he did when he came back from his ankle injury.

"A year ago, you were excited because you were back on your leg," he said before the Children's Cancer Gala in which he was named an honorary co-chair with Troy Aikman as Roger Staubach passed the torch. You get to do two jumps to three jumps to progress jogging to sprinting from one week to the next. I get on the field a year later and I don't even think about my leg. Getting that leg better is not even a thought in my head. There are days when the cold front comes in and I might feel it a little bit more, but it's not something I think about.

He missed most of training camp last year with a right latissimus strain and then missed one game in the regular season after having surgery on his left non-throwing shoulder.

He said he would likely continue some sort of prehab for the ankle injury prior to practices, but not necessarily to the full extent of the resistance bands and all that. There are certain precautions that I will take to make sure that my leg is ready to go.

He can focus on improving the field with his health.

I am not rehabbing one thing. He said that he was working on his whole body. Can I get this thing faster than they have ever been, and be the best player I can be for this organization?

This is the healthiest he has been in a long time.

He said that it was exciting, and that he was pumped up just the way he felt. I am excited.

More than 20 players were in attendance at the captains workouts that were held at The Star before the summer program began. The Cowboys had more than 60 players in attendance at the voluntary workouts.

He said that when they came around the building, they saw 15-20 guys around. You don't want to be the guy that isn't building chemistry or working on the project. I think it shows the character of the guys that we have and credit to the front office and the coaches for getting people that want to be here when it is completely voluntary.
