In an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Friday, former President Donald Trump said that he supports House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
He made a call. I heard the call. The support was very strong after he came here and we took a picture.
McCarthy called The New York Times initial reporting of the tapes " totally false and wrong" and said he would encourage the President to resign.
McCarthy can be heard saying that Trump acknowledged some responsibility for the attack.
I asked him today if he was responsible for what happened. McCarthy asked House Republican lawmakers if he felt bad about what happened. He had to acknowledge it.
Trump denied he acknowledged his role in the attack on the Capitol to The Wall Street Journal. I didn't claim responsibility.
Representatives for Rep. McCarthy and former President Trump did not reply immediately.
