The remake of Stephen King's Firestarter is coming to theaters. Drew Barrymore played the title role in the 1984 film. The remake of Firestarter is getting a new score by horror icon John Carpenter, who wrote The Fog, They Live. For over a decade, Carpenter has focused on his music rather than directing or scoring movies. Sacred Bones Records is offering several variations of the Firestarter score as a vinyl release.
One of the most visually striking versions is Waxwork Records. In the image below, you can see that the cover jacket is die-cut on Charlie's eyes, revealing the fire within. The color of Charlie's flames is provided by the actual vinyl.
The following description has been released by Sacred Bones Records.
The Firestarter soundtrack uses some of the best elements of Carpenter's famous music and charts exciting new territory. The tracks range from fist-pumping sci-fi anthem to slow, reverb-drenched piano ballads and each uses a variety of sonic applications. An album that is atmospheric and also deeply melodic, cohesive, and eclectic is what it is.
The end titles for the Firestarter reboot are featured in the video below, and you can hear some of the classic Carpenter sounds.
Pre-order the Firestarter vinyl score at the official site for Sacred Bones Records. The Firestarter reboot will be released on Friday, May 13.
