  • She didn't recall if she told Trump to impose martial law to stay in power.

  • She denied ever advocating for it.

The Georgia Republican insisted in court on Friday that she has no recollection of telling Trump to use martial law to stay in power.

The striking statement came after an administrative hearing in Atlanta about whether the far-right congresswoman and close ally of Trump can be disqualified from serving in Congress for supporting an insurrection against the United States.

Andrew Celli, a lawyer with Free Speech for the People, asked her if she wanted Trump to remain in power through the use of martial law, which includes the suspension of regular laws.

"I don't recall," he responded.

The congresswoman was asked if that was a denial.

She said she didn't remember.

After a break, she was asked again if she advocated for martial law, and again she said she didn't remember.

She answered the same way on Friday as she had done on Thursday, claiming that she did not recall any of her previous statements.

There is no publicly available information that she advocated for the idea. She may be found to have committed perjury if she completely denies anything that ends up being true.

Michael Flynn advocated for martial law to be imposed on Trump in a Newsmax appearance in December of 2020.

No person who has taken an oath and served as a member of Congress shall engage in insurrection or rebellion.

A federal judge in Georgia ruled on Monday that the challenge could go forward, despite the fact that Greene tried to block the hearing. She is the first member of Congress to testify under oath.
