According to a source, the Buccaneers restructured the contract of quarterback Tom Brady.
The move frees up $9 million in salary-cap space at a time when the Bucs could use it. The cap room for the Bucs was just under $4.4 million, the sixth-lowest in the league.
Rob Gronkowski is a free agent and has not committed to playing next season. The feeling is that the Bucs would like to go younger at the position as he is 35 years old.
$3 million will be needed to sign the draft picks.
Brady and the team agreed to extend his contract by one year, which saved the team $19 million. Brady is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2023.
