Civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton gave an emotional speech at an open casket viewing for a black man who was shot and killed by a white police officer.

Sharpton talked about the officer who shot the woman during a traffic stop.

How dare you name the man who killed this man? The crowd at the church of God in Christ was told by Sharpton that they wanted his name.

Every time a young Black man or woman is arrested in this town, you put their name in the news. He said, "How dare you hold the name of a man that killed this man?" We want his name!

If the grand jury doesn't indict the police officer, are you setting a legal precedent that we won't charge him?

When we witnessed with our own eyes, not something Ben Crump said, not something Al Sharpton said, but what we witnessed with our own eyes, an unnamed police officer.

Body camera footage shows that a white Grand Rapids Police Department officer shot a man in the back of the head after a struggle on the ground. The cop, who officials have decided not to name unless charges are levied, pulled the woman over for a tag that didn't match his car.

The incident that unfolded earlier this month was captured by different sources of video. Police released dash cam and body cam footage.

An independent autopsy shows that he was shot in the back of the head, according to lawyers for the family. The autopsy team believes the shot was fired when the gun was pressed against the head. An official autopsy report from the Kent County medical examiner has not been released to the public yet.

The service included speeches, singing and dancing. A man who said he was the brother of a woman sang an original song. His parents watched the ceremony without speaking.

Sharpton and Crump compared the war in Ukraine to the war in Yugoslavia.

World leaders can condemn Russian soldiers in the Ukraine, but they can't condemn police officers in Grand Rapids, Mich. If it's wrong that you do it in Grand Rapids, then it's wrong that you do it in Ukraine.

Sharpton said that we must stand up for victims.

According to the family's attorneys,Lyoya came to the U.S. from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His father told the Associated Press that they left to escape the violence there.

A struggle over the officer's stun gun led to the cop getting on top of the man and shooting him as he lay on the ground.

When the officer comes over, he tells the man to get back in the car after he was pulled over for a minor traffic stop.

The officer asks if you have a driver's license and if you speak English. The passenger in the driver's car is asked to get his license. He closes the door while he waits and walks away. When the officer chases him.

The officer's body cam footage was turned off before the fatal shot. Eric Winstrom, the police chief in Grand Rapids, said that when a button is pushed for three seconds, it appears that it unintentionally deactivated.

The officer should be investigated by the Michigan attorney general. The Grand Rapids Police Department said that the officer is on paid leave and his powers have been suspended. Attorneys want him to be fired and charged with the full extent of the law for the killing.
