Surrounded by more than 100 members of the family, friends and former teammates, Kalabrya Haskins helped release a trio of white doves over her husband's casket.

The life of the former quarterback was honored by the Pittsburgh Steelers at a service on Friday. The morning fog and overcast weather of the last few days gave way to a bright and sunny spring setting for the service.

The altar of the church was adorned with items about the football player. Four jerseys from his career lined the closed casket, one each from the Bullis School, Ohio State, the Washington Commanders and the Steelers. The front of the church was filled with giant arrangements of roses, including a bouquet on top of the black casket. A giant portrait of Haskins was painted by a Pittsburgh artist.

Diontae Johnson,Mitch Trubisky, and Cam Heyward all attended the 90-minute service. Ryan Day is the current coach at Ohio State, as well as Urban Meyer and Art Rooney II.

One of the speakers shared memories and stories of Haskins, along with two of his friends, Mykel Traylor-Bennett and Mohamed Jabbie.

The public memorial services in New Jersey and Maryland will be hosted by the parents of the person who died.

The parents said in a statement that they didn't want their son's funeral service to be the place they met the wife for the first time.

The pallbearers carrying the casket were Traylor-Bennett and Jabbie.

As Whitney Houston's "Exhale" played, Kalabrya Haskins emerged from the church and walked down the stairs to the hearse.

She draped herself over the casket. One of the worship leaders offered a prayer and a send-off for her husband as she was consoled by friends and family.

He gave loved ones a chance to touch the doves before setting them free.
