The New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are all linked to a trade for San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel.
Ian Rapoport reported the three were teams to consider along with the Kansas City Chiefs.
New York, Detroit and Green Bay have shown interest according to Jeremy Fowler. He said that the Niners prefer to keep Samuel, who is entering the last year of his contract.
"But there are several teams that will be in the mix here, and let's be clear, the 49ers do not want to deal Deebo Samuel. They want to keep him, but it might be beyond repair at this point if Samuel is dug in, which it appears that he is. I'm told that the issue of usage of him playing running back and wide receiver is only part of the reason why he requested a trade."
Samuel would be an upgrade for almost any passing game in the league after enjoying a career year. He had 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six scores. He made a big impact on the field with his contributions on the ground (59 carries for 361 yards and eight touchdown).
The Lions have lacked a true No. 1 wideout since Calvin Johnson retired, and the Jets have been looking for one for a long time. Detroit could take a shot at one of the young quarterbacks in next week's draft, while New York is also building around a young quarterback.
An All-Pro receiver can help accelerate the development of an inexperienced signal-caller.
The Packers are in need of an elite wideout in order to take advantage of what's left of Rodgers.
Green Bay was prepared to match the five-year, $140 million deal Adams signed with the Raiders. Brian Gutekunst may not be concerned about trading for Samuel knowing that he is due a large amount of money.
Fowler was unsure if 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan would sign off on sending Samuel to a rival.
