An engaged Colorado couple who went viral on TikTok for outlining four strict rules they are planning to implement at their wedding said they hope it encourages others to do the same.

Kaytlyn is a bride-to-be and wedding photographer who is on TikTok. On April 9th, she posted a video with her fianc, Tyler, 31, and since then her following on the app has grown to over 22,000.

In the clip, which had over 18 million views on Friday, the couple sways from side to side as the caption reads, "hyping ourselves up to tell our wedding guests."

The video was made to show brides that it is okay to want what they want.

Since April 2020 she has been making TikTok videos, but after she and her husband-to-be got engaged in January, she turned her attention to wedding-planning videos.

While commenters on the video debated if the rules were fair, she said she was certain of her decision.

They will have food from a well-known local taco truck at their big day, which will take place in October at a warehouse space in Denver. Guests were told to come dressed in cocktail attire.

"We don't get many days as adults to truly enjoy everything that we want, as we want it."

There is a no-child rule at weddings and it is becoming more and more common in her experience.

She said that she thinks that it is no longer offensive to be picky about plus ones, and recommends the no ring, no bring rule for married couples as a baseline.

The least awkward way to establish your rules is to put them on a website, which you can cite on any paper invitations, according to a TikTok posted on April 10. She suggests that an FAQ page should be created with information on how many seats a particular guest has on their invitation and who is invited.

She told Insider that the best way to communicate your rules is face-to-face, rather than texting or email, so there is no room for confusion.

"If you want to put yourself first as a couple, you should think about the positions of your friends and family before making blanket rules," said Rosko, who noted that you should think about the positions of your friends and family before making blanket rules.

Guests should still feel comfortable at a wedding, but they should be aware of how accessible your venue is, whether the dress code will make anyone feel uncomfortable, or if there are aspects of your wedding that people cannot afford.

If you want to make it about you and make it intimate, do it, said Rosko, adding that weddings are no longer about the family as much as they used to be. If you guys want to run away and elope with each other, do it. Listen to yourself and make the day you want.
