I think it's pretty exciting that Singapore is going to drop all testing requirements for travelers who are vaccine-free.

Singapore drops testing for vaccinated travelers

As of April 26, 2022, Singapore will no longer require vaccinations for travelers and unvaccinated children. It will be the same as it was before the pandemic.

It will be a different situation within the country because of the easing of entry restrictions. Limits on group sizes, social distancing, and limits on people in the workplace are all being scrapped by Singapore. While on public transportation, mandatory masks will be required.

The country of Singapore has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world. Singapore has just gone through a huge omicron wave, but the country is now seeing case numbers drop. Singapore has not seen as many deaths per capita as other countries because of the vaccine rate.

Entering Singapore is about to get even easier

Kudos to Singapore!

The progress Singapore has made with restrictions during the Pandemic has been pretty cool. Singapore was fully closed for a year after the outbreak of coronaviruses, taking a zero-tolerance approach.

The country has made a lot of progress since then, and has modified restrictions based on the situation in the country. The country opened slowly with strict testing requirements. The vaccine travel lane concept was launched.

Up until this current point, we gradually saw more and more restrictions loosened. I wondered if it would be practical to visit Singapore in the next five years. I would have never expected to see Singapore drop testing requirements for travel ahead of the United States.

Singapore's approach to all this is rational. At a time when treatment options were limited, the country was conservative and focused on protecting people. The government of Singapore recognizes that coronaviruses is here to stay, and that protecting people has to be balanced with a return to normal.

I respect the approach Singapore has taken

Bottom line

Singapore will no longer require vaccinations for travelers as of April 26, 2022. At the beginning of the Pandemic, Singapore took a very conservative approach.

If you asked me a year ago if Singapore or the United States would drop the testing requirement for travelers, I would have guessed the United States with 100:1 odds.

What do you think about the reopening and easing of restrictions in Singapore?
