Earl Thomas has been out of the league for the past two seasons, but he wants to return to the league.

Thomas said he was in shape and was ready to go. My timing is on point and I am proud of that.

After punching teammate Chuck Clark during a training camp practice, Thomas was released by the Baltimore Ravens in August 2020.

Thomas was once considered one of the best safeties in the NFL, getting named first-team All-Pro from 2012 to 2014 as a member of the Seattle Seahawks. The relationship between Thomas and the Seahawks became strained when he flashed his middle finger at coach Pete Carroll while being carted off with a broken leg.

A year later, the Ravens signed Thomas to a four-year, $55 million contract that included $32 million in guaranteed money, the largest amount given to a free agent in franchise history. He only lasted 17 months in Baltimore, where his tumultuous time was marked by missed meetings, a couple of heated confrontations with teammates and a Pro Bowl appearance.

The Ravens had their fourth training camp practice of the year. Clark ripped off his helmet and threw it to the ground after Thomas blew a coverage. A source said that Thomas punched Clark.

Thomas had a great run, but wished things would have ended differently.

Thomas met with the Houston Texans in September 2020. It was expected that Thomas would join the Texans.

He wants his $10 million guaranteed salary in 2020. Baltimore did not pay because he violated his contract. In February, Eric DeCosta said that the grievance had not been resolved.

At some point, maybe this year, we will have something to say on that, DeCosta said.
