MadEats claims to be the first delivery-only startup in the Philippines, with their own virtual storefront, ghost kitchens and fleet of drivers. They also launch their own brands, making them a delivery-only restaurant group.
The company announced today that it has raised over $1 million in seed funding.
MadEats has three ghost kitchens, one each in Manila and Quezon City. They want to open physical storefronts in Metro Manila's north.
Mikee Villareal, the CEO of MadEats, said that the team worked for some of the top restaurant groups in the Philippines, launching, managing and working on over 20 restaurant concepts.
She said that ghost kitchens have a different cost structure than traditional restaurants, which gives the team freedom to create product concepts that are more delivery-friendly.
MadEats now has six brands and is expanding its portfolio. Smash burgers and Japanese food are new brands added by the company.
MadEats approach isScalable because of its suite of internal tools. The system that makes sure orders are fulfilled at the nearest location is part of it.
As demand for orders increases, the company has worked with third-party logistics providers. Villareal said over 50% of its orders come in through its own platform, Madeats.co, even though it is available on third-party apps.
