Henry Mauriss, an American businessman, made a bid to buy the club.

The Prince won a legal case in 2019.

With three games remaining, the club are in the final play-off spot.

Before the deal to buy Newcastle fell through, Mauriss entered a period of exclusivity.

Any deal to buy the club would have to be approved by the owners and directors.

The prince of Saudi Arabia won a High Court battle to take control of the club after they were promoted to the premier league.

He had owned 50% of the club since it was in League One.

The company run by Mr McCabe and his family made an offer to buy out the prince.

The counter notice was served in January of last year, after the offer gave the prince's company the option to buy Mr McCabe's shares at the same price.
