The New York Times reported that the FAA demanded that Jacob turn over his pilot license after he posted a video of a crash that the agency believes was staged. Jacob jumped out of his plane while wearing a parachute after it appeared to have an engine malfunction. Jacob was told in a letter that he showed a lack of care, judgment and responsibility by jumping out of the plane.

The video has more than 1.7 million views. The FAA expressed doubts about Jacob's choices during the incident. The letter takes issue with the fact that he didn't try to restart the engine properly, contact air traffic control for support, or look for an alternative place to land despite there being plenty of options available. The agency says he didn't try to save the plane before jumping out.

Jacob appeared to open the door before the propeller slowed down in the video, and the regulators questioned whether the engine failure was genuine. Jacob doesn't wear a parachute while flying, despite his claims in the video, according to Flying magazine. It doesn't seem like the plane was in great shape. According to Jalopnik, it was in a state of disrepair and in need of major maintenance, and that Jacob tried to fix it himself. It's possible that the aircraft had engine troubles because it was a vintage model from 1940.

According to his Team USA bio page, Jacob is into extreme sports. He snowboarded in the Olympics. He's no stranger to fame on the internet. There is a video on his channel called HornTrain prank. It had nearly 7 million views. He has several videos of himself skydiving.

Jacob was surprised when he was asked about the FAA letter that told him to turn in his pilot license or face daily fines of more than $1,000. He replied, "Where do you get that information?" and then stopped responding to emails.
