At the first D&D Direct livestream, Wizards of the Coast revealed what's in store for D&D with the return of not one, but two major new additions to Fifth Edition.

Spelljammer: Adventures in Space

Chris Perkins, a game design architect, and Trystan Falcone, a graphic designer, introduce Spelljammer: adventures in space in a short press video. As players travel through space, they will encounter cities on asteroids and dead gods floating in the water.

The new Spelljammer will be available in a slipcase with three books, a screen, and a poster map. The guide is written for both players and daemons. It has everything you need to run campaigns in Wildspace.

  • Astral Elves—These are elves with starlight in their eyes who have abandoned the feywilds for space.
  • Autognomes—Mechanical gnomes, “built gnome-tough,” that appear like steampunk automata.
  • Hadozee—Mischievous-looking flying monkey aliens
  • Giff—A race of hippo-headed folk who don’t know where they came from and don’t know where they’re going, who are looking for home in all the wrong places.
  • Plasmoids—Described as slime, these vaguely-human shaped beings are D&D’s first character race where you are an ooze.
  • Thri-Kreen—Mantis-like insectoids with color-changing carapaces who possess telepathy.

The second book is called Boo's Astral Menagerie and is a sourcebook of new monsters for the Wildspace setting such as Vampirates, Space Clouds, Murder Comets, Giant Space Hamsters, and Solar and Lunar Dragons. Light of Xaryxis is the third book in the D&D adventure series. Characters from level 5 to level 18 are required. It has 12 episodes at about 2 hours each, and each chapter ends in a cliffhanger. There will be a Wizards of the Coast online account where the adventure will be released.

The second edition of D&D was published in 1989. The setting for the updated edition was adjusted relatively painless, according to Perkins. We didn't use that because we wanted to use the Master's guide and the astral plane to streamline the journey from one world to another.

Perkins denied that The Starjammer, which was a massive ship of older Starjammer lore, does not make an appearance.

August 2022, is when Spelljammer: adventures in space will arrive.

Dragonlance: Warriors of Krynn

There are two new products from Dragonlance at the end of the trailer, one of which is a tactical board game called Warriors of Kryn and the other is a campaign book called Shadow of the Dragon Queen. When the company realized that they could create something new and unique through a combination of a board game and a TTRPG campaign at the same time, they decided to use Dragonlance as an example. Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman were not associated with this setting or board game.

Dragonlance was a series of novels that were set in the world of D&D. Over 150 novels have been published in the Dragonlance series. This is about as classic swords-and-sorcery role-playing as D&D can get, and it doesn't seem to be deviating much from the formula.

Ray Winninger, Executive Producer for D&D's, said that this will be an accessible, lore-light game that will people who have no familiarity with Dragonlance will be able to play, and will give you a tour of what this setting is.

Shadow of the Dragon Queen's Winninger said that the battle game would tie into the campaign setting. Warriors of Kryn is a co-op board game that allows players to play out the massive military battles of their role-playing campaign while retaining narrative legacy elements. The board game will allow players to port their characters. The game will be able to be played on its own. Warriors of Krynn was designed by Rob and Stephen.

Dragons of Stomwreck Isle Starter Set

A new starter set has a campaign book, player's guide, dice, and character sheets. It will be released with digital tools, making it easy to get started in D&D.

The previous set, Fandelver, received eight years of feedback. The biggest goal was to create a product that anyone could pick up and get going, because if you didn't have someone who had played D&D before the set, it was still intimidating.

Wizards of the Coast is helping out with digital tools with the help of Shelly Mazzanoble. There is a New Player Hub for this set that will help first-time players. There will be a lot of video instructions to help people understand the basics of the game. There will be an interactive video that will show the basics of D&D within 15 minutes.

D&D Campaign Cases—Creatures and Terrains

You can make your own creature token with the help of the case sets, which feature illustrations of classic monsters and discs of three different sizes. The goal is that this product will help create a cohesive, immersive campaign.

The Terrain Case will have 30 interlocking tiles and will double as a carrying case. There is a green terrain print on one side of the tiles and a stone tile print on the other side. Preorder the Creatures Case and Terrain Case.
