A popular driver for the Detroit Red Wings was dismissed for urinating in a drain.

Two months after he was fired from the Red Wings, Al Sobotka filed a discrimination lawsuit. He has a health condition that causes him to urinate frequently.

Sobotka was unable to get to a restroom so he urinated in a drain that carries ice from the machines. Someone saw him and reported it.

Attorney Deborah Gordon said that he was given no warning or second chance.

The company wouldn't comment on a legal matter.

At Red Wings games, Sobotka was known for steering the zelloni, but he was also known for removing fans from Joe Louis Arena and for throwing the octopus on the ice. Fans cheered as he twirled the sea creatures over his head.

Gordon said that management was aware of the problem.

Sobotka told WDIV-TV that he was shocked by his dismissal. Yes, it was heartbreaking.
