The Obamas are ending their partnership with the streaming service.
The former first couple's media production company, Higher Ground, will split with Spotify after the streaming giant declined to make an offer to renew their deal, according to people familiar with negotiations.
The newswire reported that Amazon and iHeartMedia are in talks with Higher Ground on a deal that would be worth tens of millions of dollars.
The departure of High Ground is related to disagreements with Spotify, such as how frequently the Obamas would feature in output, and over the exclusiveness of shows.
Higher Ground did not respond to a request made outside of normal US operating hours. Insider requested comment from both iHeartMedia andAudible, but neither responded immediately.
The Obama's helped boost the credentials of the streaming giant after they announced in June that they would develop and produce audio shows. Insider previously reported that Higher Ground was shopping for new deals ahead of the end of the three-year deal.
Higher Ground wants to be able to release shows on multiple platforms. iHeart could be interested in the same reason, as they don't always use an exclusive strategy, the outlet said.
The first show under the Obamas' deal was one of the most popular on the platform, though it was later made available on rival apps. Barack Obama hosted his own show called "Renegades: Born in the USA", which was hosted by Bruce Springsteen.
