Sky Sports News understands that United will look at their full-back and goalkeeping options this summer, while also looking for a new centre-back.

In order to strengthen their squad under their next manager, the club must first clear the decks.

We look at the players who are approaching the end of their contracts, as well as the ones who don't seem to fit in anymore.

OUT OF CONTRACT

Paul Pogba

New terms have not been offered by United.

Sky Sports News reported in March that he was in talks with his representatives, as well as two English clubs.

He came off with a knock in the early stages of the game against the Reds and Gary wondered if it was the last time we would see him in a United shirt.

Jesse Lingard

His future at Old Trafford has been up in the air for a while.

He spent the second half of last term on loan at West Ham and they wanted to sign him permanently. He failed to get a first-team place again. He was a target in January.

He is expected to leave this summer, with a number of clubs watching his situation. Roy said he should have left two years ago.

Juan Mata

The Spaniard has been on the fringes of the first team all season and looks set to leave.

Mata has made seven appearances this season. There are no options left in his contract.

According to reports in Spain, he could return to play in La Liga.

Nemanja Matic

Matic will leave the club on a free at the end of the season, after he decided not to take up the option in his contract.

The Sky Sports punditry team questioned why he announced this before the end of the season, with the team still fighting to finish fourth.

Edinson Cavani

The 35-year-old agreed to ignore interest from his native South America and sign another one-year deal last summer but has not featured regularly.

He wants to move to Spain this summer.

Lee Grant

The English goalkeeper who has made up the local quota and provided extra cover in goal but has not played this season is expected to find a new club.

De Gea, who has an option for an additional year in his contract ending in 2023, recently said he does not see himself away from Manchester United but he has flirted with a return to Madrid in the past.

His wife is a successful television host and spends most of her time in the city.

He has remained one of United's better players this season but Ten Hag likes a keeper who can build from the back in the same way Ederson and Alisson do.

Does De Gea fit that mold? He would be hard to replace.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Less than a year after his return to the club, it was reported thatRonaldo was considering leaving in the summer, but his representatives were quick to deny it.

He has scored a hat-trick in each of the last two games, and he will want to see his team-mates match his standards between now and the end of the season.

Should he say he is ready to go this summer, he will have lots of lucrative options. He has an option to extend his contract by another year.

Marcus Rashford

It seems that the arrivals of Jadon Sancho andRonaldo have had an impact on Marcus Rashford's form this season, as he has struggled to find his best form again.

He is young and dynamic enough that Ten Hag will want to have a close look at him. Reports claim that Rashford is considering his future. The club has an option to extend his contract by a year if he stays.

Luke Shaw

Shaw, who has a one-year extension option for the club, is happy at United and willing to extend his contract further.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher express their frustrations with this Manchester United side following a poor performance in their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool

Like most of the squad, his form has been sporadic this season and he has appeared to prefer Alex Telles or Diogo Dalot at left-back.

Shaw has been injured recently and will almost certainly be another player Ten Hag will want to assess first before making any decisions on his future.

Fred

One of United's priorities this summer is to sign a new central midfielder, given that Matic and Pogba are leaving.

Fred has been one of the better performers this season, but what these new additions will mean for him remains to be seen. There is a one-year extension option in his contract and he should fit in with Ten Hag.

Phil Jones

Surprised everyone when he signed a new contract that has an option until 2024.

He has made only three appearances this season and looked far short of what was required in Tuesday's thumping by the Reds.

It is difficult to see how he would fit in. A new centre-back is going to be signed by United this summer.

Tom Heaton

With United expected to be in the market for another goalkeeper this summer, his future is up in the air, as he has an option to extend his time at Old United.

He made a first-team appearance.

Diogo Dalot

Since he arrived at United, Dalot's situation has been up and down.

He was on a loan at AC Milan last season and was expected to head there permanently.

Instead, he stayed and had a good start to the campaign, but dropped off again before another resurgence.

With just a year left on his contract, it might be time to cash in on the Portugal international and sign a right-back fully in the Ten Hag mould.

OTHER POSSIBLE DEPARTURES

Dean Henderson

The England goalkeeper has been frustrated with his lack of opportunities at United for several seasons, especially after thriving during two loan spells.

He is expected to push for an exit from the club this summer because he is expected to be in line for the No.1 shirt at a number of other clubs.

Eric Bailly

Despite signing a new contract last year, Bailly has only made seven appearances this season.

Despite the fact that Real Madrid signed Raphal Varane last year, United want to sign another centre-back this summer.

Anthony Martial

Martial is currently on a loan at Sevilla, he has fallen out of favor with both Solskjaer and Rangnick.

Sky Sports News revealed in December that he wanted to join the Spanish club in January to get more first-team games.

It's not clear if Sevilla want to keep him permanently, but other clubs were interested in signing him, and his future at Old United is not certain.

Brandon Williams

The young left-back, who has been fourth in the pecking order behind Shaw, Telles and Dalot, has been on loan with the Canaries.

He will need to play regular games next season, which is unlikely at United.
