The New York Times reported that the FAA revoked the private pilot certificate of a pilot who crashed his plane for a video.

The agency said in a letter to the YouTuber that he showed a lack of care, judgment and responsibility by jumping out of the plane to record the crash.

The degree of care, judgment and responsibility required of a certificate holder is shown by your egregious and intentional actions on these dates.

Jacob was accused of faking a plane crash so that he could make a video about it for views.

The 28-year-old can be seen parachuting out of a civilian aircraft in a video that was posted last December. Aviation enthusiasts questioned if the crash was a real accident after watching the video.

The FAA agreed that it was odd that Jacob was wearing a parachute.

The FAA told Jacob that he opened the left side pilot door before he claimed the engine had failed.

Even though there were multiple areas within gliding range in which you could have made a safe landing, Jacob did not look for a place to land.

The FAA said that after the crash, he covered and then dumped the wreck.

Jacob told the Times in an email that he was unaware of the FAA's ruling.

He and the FAA didn't respond to Insider's request for comment.
