Carlos Sainz has a new contract with Ferrari.

The Spaniard joined the team as a team-mate to Charles Leclerc and has impressed with his speed, consistency and collaborative philosophy.

His contract is the same as that of Leclerc, who signed a five-year deal before the 2020 season.

Sainz said that he feels strengthened by this renewed show of confidence in him and that he can't wait to do his best for Ferrari.

His previous contract ended at the end of the year.

Leclerc is the early favourite for the title after establishing a 34 point lead in the championship with two wins, a second place and three fastest laps in just three races.

George Russell is four points behind Sainz in the championship, but he crashed out of the last grand prix in Australia.
