According to O'Beirne, Apple's new map data now covers 18.4% of Earth's land area and 8.5% of the global population. After almost four years of expansions and eight years of data collecting, that is. France and Monaco are likely to be included in the next update.
The company has been working on expanding the maps since they were first introduced. The updated Maps app offers a faster and more accurate way to navigate along with more detailed views of roads, buildings, malls, sports fields, foliage, pools, pedestrian pathways, bodies of water, and more.
