Higher companies Ground is in negotiations with for a new deal. Higher Ground didn't make an offer, but had talked to Spotify. Higher Ground wants to be able to make multiple shows and release them on platforms at the same time, which would go against the usual exclusives-based strategy.
Higher Ground, Amazon, and iHeartMedia did not reply to the request for comment. Grey Munford did not comment.
The home of the Joe Rogan Experience is worth $200 million, and it has come under scrutiny recently because of Rogan's opinions about vaccines. Neil Young and Joni Mitchell were among the musicians who removed their music from the streaming service. It is not clear if the controversy surrounding Rogan contributed to the Obamas' decision to look elsewhere.
