According to sources, Jay Wright is expected to retire after 21 seasons as the head coach of the men's basketball team.

Sources said that Kyle Neptune, who was an assistant coach under Wright for 10 years, is expected to be named his successor.

Sources say that Wright has called a meeting for Wednesday.

Since 2001, Wright has been the head coach at Villanova. He made four Final Four appearances, including one this past season, and won two national titles. He was a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.

Wright won at least 30 games on six occasions, the sixth-most 30-win seasons in men's Division I history. He won eight Big East regular-season titles.

Wright was the head coach at Hofstra for seven seasons, winning two America East Championships and making two NCAA tournament appearances.

Neptune was the head coach at Fordham for one season. He led the Rams to a 14 win improvement over their previous season.

The Athletic reported that Wright was expected to retire.
