There was no mention of the Google Assistant when the watch was launched. There was reason to hope that the digital assistant might arrive sooner than expected, as both companies have avoided giving a firm date for when it would arrive. The update logs for the two watches indicated that an update had arrived. This is not the case, according to the company.

To confirm, Assistant is not rolling out to the watch and we don't have an update on timing.

The software update that was released today is referred to in the update logs. The logs say that if you have downloaded the app, it will show up in the settings menu.

“To confirm, Assistant is not rolling out to Galaxy Watch 4 and we don’t have an update on timing.”

The update was not confirmed by The Verge. There was no update for our review units. We looked at the Play Store. Nothing there either. It appears that the whole thing may have been an error.

We reached out to the two companies for further clarification but did not get a response.

When the Wear OS partnership was announced last year, the ability to choose between applications was a highlight. The previous versions of the watch ran on a proprietary operating system. Users were forced to use features from the other side of the world. There is a person named Bixby. The main weakness of the Tizen smartwatches is that it doesn't allow third-party apps. The case in point is the fact that owners of the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic can now use Google Pay instead of the other way around.

For Samsung, switching over to Wear OS was meant to broaden access to third-party apps

The watch lineup still comes with a digital assistant. Is it... There is a person named Bixby. Some people don't mind Bixby, but others do. Regardless of your feelings, Bixby is not as popular as other assistants. One of the most useful Wear OS features is the Google Assistant.

The arrival of the Google Assistant on Wear OS 3 is one of the most anticipated updates for the platform. There is a chance that we will hear something at next month's Google I/O.
