Several previews of games that are slated for release throughout the year were shared by Meta. It was quiet when it came to new hardware.

The metaverse's plans, and how it sees future hardware playing a role in its development, were mentioned by Meta.

The metaverse will become the next generation of the internet and the next evolution in social technology, according to Rith Bram, Meta executive producer.

The metaverse has been pioneered by gaming in how it has allowed developers to build in 3D and people to connect in new ways. It might take longer for the larger concept of the metaverse to be realized.

There is a lot of talk about the metaverse. Meta wants to be at the forefront, but it isn't the only company involved in its development.

The metaverse suggests a seamless integration of virtual reality in places other than gaming.

Last year, Microsoft announced that it would integrate virtual environments in Teams using its mixed-reality platform, Mesh. At least one of the leaked sessions for the upcoming Microsoft Build 2022 developers conference will discuss development in the metaverse.

Nicole Herskowitz, Microsoft Teams general manager, will be one of the hosts of the session. Sources suggest that the host lineup might point to the development of how the metaverse will work with Microsoft Teams.

There were rumors that Meta could announce a new virtual reality headset at the virtual event. The headset, code-named Project Cambria, has been teased by Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and has been leaked by reliable analysts.

With Meta's showcase complete, it might be more clear that the headset is more for gaming and less connected to the hardware side.
