No battery, no screen, no fan, and no metal housing? There are a lot of things missing from the new Hero10 Black Bones. It's not a good idea to use a normal GoPro for acrobatics of an FPV drone. When we got a review unit of the Hero10 Black, we recruited a pilot to see if it was up to snuff, and you can see his flying skills on full display.
The kind of person who inspired the Bones to begin with was Kurniawan. He has been de-casing Hero10s to decrease their weight from 154 grams to 33 grams. The new Bones is a 54-gram version of the naked GoPro that he provides to his customers.
The Hero10 Black has the same internals as this camera. It has the same GP2 processor, HyperSmooth 4.0 in-body stabilization, and image sensor that can shoot 4K and 5.3K footage.
The first camera that the company announced during its last earnings call was the $499 Bones, and the company tells us we will see more specialized cameras. The rest of the community can put their soldering gear down for now. Or can they?
