As the city of 25 million begins to ease restrictions following a substantial COVID outbreak, the huge factory of electric car maker,Tesla, is restarting production.
The factory will re-open in a closed-loop system, according to internal company memos, which were cited in the report. Employees will live and work at the factory, with the first shift entering earlier this week and expected to stay until May 1st under the city's current COVID policies.

Each worker will be provided with a sleeping bag and mattresses, with designated areas for sleeping, showering, eating and relaxation, according to a memo from Telsa. Each employee will get three free meals a day. Only workers who have received two vaccinations will be allowed to enter the factory, and each will have to take a daily nucleic acid test for the first three days.
The factory shut down on March 28th and since then, the company has been increasing working hours to try and make up for lost production. Employees will work 12 hour days, six days in a row, and live and eat at the factory.
The shutdown and re- opening of the plant is expected to affect production targets.
