According to multiple reports, Russian players will not be allowed to compete at Wimbledon this year due to the country's invasion of Ukraine.
A ban on Russian players would prevent them from competing in the men's draw. The women's rankings have Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in 15th place.
The New York Times and Sportico both reported that the players from Belarus would not be allowed to compete. Russia calls it a special operation, and it is a key staging area for the invasion.
Aryna Sabalenka was a semifinalist at Wimbledon last year. She is ranked 18th.
The All England Lawn Tennis Club said it was in talks with the British government about the participation of players from Russia and Belarus. The entry deadline for the June 27 to July 10 tournament is in the middle of May.
The All England Club didn't respond to the request for comment.
Russian and Belarusian players will be allowed to compete at the French Open as neutral athletes.
