The landmark in Venice is now open to the public for the first time.

After a five-year renovation project, the Procuratie Vecchie will be open to the public for the first time in its history.

One of the most photographed buildings in Venice is the building stretching the entire length of the north side of the Piazza San Marco.

David Chipperfield Architects in Milan was called in to breathe new life into the building and repair some structural damage so that it could be enjoyed by the public.

Venice's best beaches are on La Serenissima.

The restoration created public reading rooms, exhibition and event spaces, a cafe that retains the building's original wooden beams and brick walls, and a rooftop pavilion that provides visitors with some of the best views of Venice.

There is a hidden passageway between the Piazza San Marco and the Royal Gardens. The gardens on the banks of the Grand Canal were abandoned for a long time before being restored and turned into a park.

The Venetian terrazzo flooring, ceilings, plasterwork, and frescoes that were restored on the first and second floors can be seen elsewhere in the building. Visitors can see the traces of transformation on the third floor.

The seat of the Procurators of St Mark was built in the 12th century. It was destroyed by a fire in 1512 and rebuilt in 1538 for politicians and royalty, but it is still the most famous building in Venice.

The whole world loves this building because of its monumental presence in a monumental square. It is a big civic space in Venice. It has an amazingly theatrical presence.

Venice has a plan to make the city more accessible.
