Marcus Spears spoke about how the return of Tom Brady makes the Buccaneers favorites in the South. (1:20)

Despite reports that quarterback Tom Brady was prepared to be named a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins and possibly play for them before coming out of retirement to rejoin the Bucs, he and the seven-time Super Bowl winner have not.

The only discussions I have had are with Brady, who I have known since 2002, when he was an assistant director of player personnel.

If Brady had pursued a position with the Dolphins, the Bucs would have held onto his rights because he is under contract for one more season. The new head coach of the Buccaneers, Todd Bowles, said at the NFL combine that the team would not accommodate Brady if he left.

Nope. It would require more than a king's ransom for a team to snatch Brady away. Maybe, according to Arians. Brady will be an unrestricted free agent after this season if he chooses to continue playing, meaning he would be able to sign with any team at that point.

What do you think about all the chatter linking Brady to the Dolphins and reports that Sean Payton was going to join the team to play with Brady?

"Just like you said, I make of it -- chatter, just like you said," he said.

The new role of the team has not been carved out, but he is still involved in the pre-draft meetings and will be in the draft room.

The philosophy hasn't changed, according to Licht. Bruce is still involved. He is still in our meetings. Bruce is going to be involved in the draft as we put the final touches on it. Our philosophy has not changed. We want to bring in good players.
