Every year, companies like Canon andNikon push camera technology forward with new models that add features like 8K video recording and 30 fps shooting speeds. The batteries that power those cameras haven't changed much.

Chinese manufacturer Nitecore has been announced as the replacement for Sony's NP-FZ 100. You don't need to use a proprietary Sony power adapter to charge the UFZ 100 because it has a built-in USB-C port. The battery has an indicator to tell you when it's below 10 percent charge. When the UFZ 100 is below half power, above 50 percent, and finally fully topped up, the green light will indicate the final state. It works with many of the company's most recent camera models and is only slightly smaller than Sony's NP-FZ 100.

It's not like you couldn't live without one of the company's proprietary power adapters, because Sony cameras have been a standard feature for a few years now. Since you don't need a wall outlet, having a port on the battery is more convenient. You could more easily charge multiple batteries with enough cables.

We don't know how much the UFZ 100 will cost. The USC-C port on the UFZ100 could make it more expensive, since third-party battery manufacturers tend to price their offerings lower than Sony, Canon and Nikon.
