The company announced on Tuesday that it is removing the tab for some users as part of a small test. When you select a #, you are taken to a page where you can see the content that has been posted using that # in three categories: top, recent and reels. Some users will only be able to see the Reels and Top tabs.

The test is being rolled out to a small group of users. The change could be seen as a way to promote Reels, its TikTok rival, while also focusing on posts that are receiving the most engagement on the platform. It may be a bad idea for users who would like to follow along with newer content.

We want to see if this helps people connect with more interesting and relevant content on hashtags, while also keeping them up to date on what's current.

For a small group, we’re testing more recent and timely content in ‘Top’ and ‘Reels’ tabs in hashtags, and removing the ‘Recent’ tab. The new test is part of the efforts of the company to make the hashtags more valuable for its users. A few weeks ago, the social network began testing a new feature that aims to make it easier for users to discover and support social causes. You will have the option to support certain social movements through new options when you search for specific hashtags.

To learn more about the movement, you can select "support" when you get to a # page. TheSpread the Word button lets you spread the word with your friends. The company says the feature will make it easier to raise awareness for causes through a button that can be used to start raising money.

Two recent tests show that the social network is looking to improve its platform. It is possible that we will see more similar tests in the coming months.
