The company said that many people still feel safer wearing a mask because of personal or family health situations.

The no-front-seat policy was relaxed to give drivers more room to maneuver. If it is necessary, the front seat is only used by riders in a large group. The company told drivers to use hand sanitizer and to roll down their windows.

The CDC still recommends that people wear a mask if they have certain personal risk factors or high transmission levels in their area. Even if one of the two people in the car is wearing a mask, there is still a higher chance of transmission.

In the U.K. and Ireland, the company has begun relaxing mask policies. At the time of publication, the primary competitor is still enforcing a mask mandate.

Several private travel companies have removed their mask mandates this week. New York City's MTA has upheld their mask requirement.
