The Rock and Dany Garcia announce co-ownership of the XFL (2:03)

The XFL co-owners share their excitement for the upcoming season. There is a time and a place.

According to a source, the XFL convened a virtual meeting of agents Monday night to pitch them on the league's plans for the future.

The XFL's top football executives told agents that the XFL would offer better benefits than the USFL.

According to an internal outline of the XFL's season schedule, Ross, Whaley and Giglio suggested that the XFL's season schedule would be more advantageous for players who want to get subsequent consideration from NFL teams.

If their team wins, USFL players will get a bonus of $4,500 per week. The USFL pays $75 toward a daily $150 hotel room rate at the league's one-site location in Alabama. XFL salaries will include full housing and meal costs during the season, according to Ross and Whaley.

Each of the eight XFL teams is expected to have 70 man rosters, with 45 active for games, which is 200 more than the current roster limits of the USFL. The USFL players signed two-year contracts, making it difficult to switch leagues.

The XFL, which last week named its eight head coaches, declined comment.

Four games over three days are broadcast nationally by either Fox, NBC or one of its secondary channels. The league reported that the opening game was viewed or streamed by a projected average of 3 million viewers.

The USFL executive vice president of football operations said in the days before the launch that the USFL would be ahead of the curve in any future competition with the XFL.

I don't know if it's a race to see who gets there first. It goes back to our partners. Where would the XFL be able to compete with us when we talk about the presentation of the product? I think it will be a challenge for them to be able to match us on the field, but how do you deliver that to the fan? I don't think there is a way for the XFL to match what we have created there in the ability to broadcast the USFL into television for the fans.
