It doesn't make sense, why Russia and Ukraine haven't yet come to an agreement, said Donald Trump, the former US President.

The peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv in Turkey last month yielded few solutions as Russia continues its military onslaught on Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin initially ordered to suspend military operations as the countries entered negotiations, but later continued his operation in Ukraine. Last week, Putin said peace talks with Ukraine were over.

It doesn't make sense that Russia and Ukraine aren't sitting down and working out an agreement.

The former president said that the solution can never be as good as it would have been before the shooting started.

The Monday statement comes weeks after Trump initially praised Putin's justification for invading Ukraine.

Russian forces left the area around Kyiv after attempting to capture the Ukrainian capital. Pentagon and NATO officials said that the Russian army moved from the area to focus on the eastern part of the country.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday that negotiations could end if the Russian army kills Ukrainian forces in Mariupol.

We wanted to take away the wounded. It was a humanitarian mission that we talked about. Zelenskyy said in an interview with CNN on Monday that they had plans to get the wounded, civilians and the military. Russia wants to shoot them dead, so they don't let them out.

The leader said that the defenders of Mariupol are not willing to give up to Russia.

They are ready to let the military go if they surrender, but they are not going to. Zelenskyy said that the military does not want to surrender and that Russians are not ready to let them go.

When you can make an agreement with Russians to let them go without being aggressive, but after they shoot them dead, what they will do is shoot them dead. No one trusts Russia now because of that.
