An investigator from the National Football League is looking into claims made by former Cleveland coach Hue Jackson that the team deliberately lost games.
Jackson was fired as the coach of the ClevelandBrowns eight games into the season with a 3-36-1 record.
Jackson posted on social media in February that he was set up to fail and that the team paid him bonuses to lose. Jackson later softened those claims.
The team went 1-15 and 0-16 in the same year.
Brian McCarthy confirmed that the league engaged Mary Jo White to look into Jackson's allegations.
McCarthy told The Associated Press that the review is ongoing and is expected to conclude soon.
The team said it worked with the league on its inquiry.
Even though Hue recanted his allegations a short time after they were made, it was important to us and to the integrity of the game to have an independent review of the allegations.
We cooperated with Mary Jo White and look forward to the findings.
