Luka Doncic is out for the second game of the Dallas Mavericks' playoff series against the Utah Jazz because of a strained left calf, even though he is making progress in his recovery.
Doncic got hurt in the regular-season finale and will be out for Game 2.
The Jazz defeated the Mavericks 99-93 in the first game of the series. Game 3 is in Utah.
Doncic has resumed individual shooting, and even made a half-court shot during the walk-through Monday morning.
Before the game, Kidd did not say what type of progress Doncic was making.
The coach said after the morning walk-through that the All-Star was definitely going in the right direction and doing more each day.
He is in a great place mentally. Kidd said that he has been happy and joking. You get grumpy if you get hurt as an older person. He is young. If he can't play, we have to play without him.
Dallas lost the first game of the series to the Jazz.
