Why Dak needs to be healthy to be an elite dual threat (0:38)

If the Cowboys want to utilize his dual-threat abilities, they need to have him healthy. (0:38)

A year ago, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was in the middle of a rigorous rehabilitation after breaking his ankle in Week 5 of the 2020 season. While the Dallas Cowboys' offseason program officially started Monday, the new leader of the team has already gotten a lot of work with his skill players.

After having non-throwing surgery on his left shoulder, Prescott has held a lot of throwing sessions.

It's important that you can throw with your quarterback. I think he is at a point where he is at with his health and everything compared to last year when he was still in rehab. We have had plenty of time to get out on the field, throw with guys and start the process back up. We are definitely ahead of where we were last year.

After making $4.4 million in his first four seasons, Schultz signed the $10.9 million franchise tag, which was 888-282-0465 888-282-0465, but he would like to work out a multiyear agreement.

I think it was a good start. Sometimes the franchise tag can be seen in a different light, but I was happy that I was going to be back. I enjoy being here. I was grateful that I was able to return for a year because I love this organization. I want to work out a long-term deal with them. Hopefully we can get that done, but I am happy with where I am going for the next year.

If the Cowboys don't work out a deal with him by July 15, he will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. Steve Caric will handle the negotiations and give updates.

Just trying to be patient.

In the same season, Schultz and Witten became the only tight ends in the history of the team to record at least 70 catches for 800 yards and eight touchdown.

He said he wants to add 5 to 6 pounds to his frame to help block the bigger defensive ends, and he has been working out at The Star for the informal captains workouts that began last month. With the trade of Cooper, he could be in for a bigger role on the offense.

The next step is having guys step up because we don't have Cooper. There is room to grow in a lot of other aspects of the game.

The Cowboys ended their season with a disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers at AT&T Stadium.

Everyone knows what the goal is. At the end of a lift, people will bring it up and someone will say a few words. I believe that a championship for this organization starts in the off-season. Whether you work out on your own or in the facility, you are competing with yourself in the off-season, and I think that will pay dividends for us in the upcoming year.
