  • Google is reportedly planning to bring back the "Wallet" branding for storing digital cards.
  • Google Pay would still be branded as the payment method in Wallet.
  • This likely signals the first steps in Google's designs to make Google Pay a more comprehensive wallet app.

Some changes are in the works for how the internet giant stores digital payment and loyalty cards. The company may be looking to bring back theWallet branding that it retired years ago.

The new interface was spotted by a former editor-in-chief. Rahman showed off the new interface of the wallet and a new icon in a series of images.

There are 4 images, the first one is image 1 and the 2nd one is image 3.

From the images, it appears that the branding for storing digital payment cards, gift cards, loyalty cards, and transit passes is going to be called Google Wallet. It appears that the space for digital cards will be located in the same place as the space for the Google Pay app, but it will still be known as the brand for making payments.

Until recently, the name of the payment solution was called Google Wallet, but now it is called Android Pay. The two services were merged into a single app. The app received another redesign in 2020 for the best phones, but it is only available in a few regions.

It may seem a little confusing, but it appears that the resurgence of theWallet brand could be a new step towards the creation of a comprehensive digital wallet. Non-payment cards such as vaccine passports, loyalty programs, and evencryptocurrencies would be increased in focus.

The Wallet app has a new icon, which was spotted by 9to5Google, and appears in Rahman's screen shot. The icon looks similar to a wallet.

The app will be able to add passes from Gmail. The Add to Wallet button is one of the things that appears to be streamlining the app for easy access to all your digital cards.

There hasn't been an official word from the company. From the looks of it, the app seems to be ready for prime time, so it may not be long before we get official information.
