The images and video show a ship in the water with a large amount of black smoke in the sky. According to the Guardian, experts say the photos and video are from the Moskva.

The Pentagon confirmed last week that Ukrainian forces sank the Moskva with at least one Neptune anti-sink missile.

Russia and Ukraine agree that the Moskva was damaged after an explosion, but they differ on what caused the ship to sink. Ukrainian officials said the Moskva had been hit by Neptune anti-ship missiles and that the cause of the fire on board was being investigated.

The Moskva was over 600 feet long and had a crew of 500. The sinking of the ship named for the Russian capital is a huge blow to the Russian population, and is unlikely to be explained away by Russian officials.

According to the Washington Post, the Pentagon saw Russian sailors leave the damaged ship in lifeboats and the defense ministry claimed that all crew members had been evacuated from the ship. According to the Post, the mother of one surviving sailor told the Novaya Gazeta Europe that about 40 people had died in the incident and many were wounded and missing.

There are dead, wounded, and missing. My son called when they got the phones. They left their phones on the ship. He cries when he sees what he saw. It was frightening. The anonymous mother said it was clear that not everyone survived.
