The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had overstepped its authority when it came to the national mask mandate, according to a federal judge in Florida.

Less than a week after the CDC decided to extend the mandate for 15 days, the ruling came.

The judge said that the CDC had failed to adequately explain its decisions and that it had violated procedures for federal agencies to issue rules. Donald Trump appointed her in 2020.

The CDC decided last week to keep the federal requirements for public transportation in place through May 3, despite the fact that state and local authorities across the country have lifted mask mandates.
