Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown, and Terry McLaurin are not expected to participate in summer workouts as they seek new contracts.
The three players are trying to get deals in place before they go to the program. The Washington Commanders workouts are expected to have McLaurin in attendance but not participating.
It is not clear if Samuel will travel to San Francisco or Brown to Tennessee in a similar show of goodwill.
The three wideouts were all drafted in the same year, and each will have a final year of their rookies contract. The receiver position has seen an increase in salaries this year, with Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill resetting the market after being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders and Miami Dolphins, respectively.
Not one of the aforementioned trio is considered on the same level as Adams or Hill, but they are in the tier below; their deals will probably be somewhere in a range similar to the four-year, $96 million contract extension signed by Stefon Diggs this offseason.
Samuel liked a post that said "if it ain't $25 million a year, we don't want it!"
Fans are sending death threats and racial stuff to each other. That don't bother me, bro. Samuel said in a video that it don't.
There is a message being sent by Brown and McLaurin, who have been less vocal about their desire for a new contract.
It will be interesting to see if one of the three winds up in a trade. Wideout is the deepest position in this class, with as many as six players receiving first-round grades.
The Packers and Chiefs moved on from franchise stalwarts in order to avoid paying huge new contracts.
