A photo claiming to show molds of Apple's upcoming iPhone 14 series models has appeared online, offering another preview of the relative sizes of the rumored devices.
It is worth noting that the molds shown in the image are likely to be used in the production of third-party iPhone cases rather than actual handsets. They seem to line up with unconfirmed details we have been hearing over the last few months, particularly with regard to the dimensions of the devices.
The lack of an iPhone mini model is the first notable difference in the lineup.
The larger sizes for the flagship devices are a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. The flat-edged design of the iPhone 13 models is expected to be used in the iPhone 14 models.
The camera bumps are expected to change. According to the schematic shared by Max Weinbach, the camera bump on the high-end iPhone will be 4.17mm thick.
The size of the back of the iPhone will increase by about 5% in each of the dimensions, going from 35.01mm to 36.73mm. We don't know what the relative changes on the standard iPhone 14 models are.
Improvements to the Ultra Wide camera are expected as a result of these camera bump changes. There are rumors that the wide-angle camera and the telephoto lens in the iPhone 14 Pro could be improved.
The analyst believes that the next generation of the Pro iPhone will have a 48mm Wide camera, which would be a major improvement over the current 12mm camera and 8K video recording capabilities.
The image only shows the rear of the devices, but the next generation of the device is expected to eliminate the notch in favor of a circular hole-punch cutout for the camera and a pill-shaped cutout. This change is limited to the Pro models, while the standard iPhone 14 models will continue to feature the notch.
