It is well known that the world's richest person, Musk, has some of the worst social media accounts. He is attempting to buy the platform in the name of freedom of speech.

The CEO ofTesla has gotten in trouble multiple times with his tweets. That is a problem in both the court of public opinion and the official capacity with the courts. Musk is offering to take the public company private in order to make sure he will be able to keep doing it.

Musk has shown that he has bad judgement and a bad sense of humor. That is not a great combination for anyone to have, let alone a tech magnate with an audience of 82.3 million followers who is in charge of some of the world's most valuable companies. Musk has deleted most of his egregious posts, but they still impacted his shareholders and devotees. He takes this influence so seriously that he writes at least half of his tweets from the toilet.

That checks out. Here are Musk's worst messages.

8. All his Tesla stock manipulation bullsh*t

The stock price has been affected multiple times by Musk's opinions and fake news about the company. At times, the government has found this behavior troublesome and illegal. He was fined by the SEC and had to step down as chairman.

The fluctuations of the stock of the company are not something we care about, but the fact that Musk doesn't care about the law is awful. I hope the joke was worth it.

7. The time he lashed out at the FAA for delaying his starship launch

Musk called the regulatory body "fundamentally broken" after it forced him to delay a launch. At least two safety warnings from the agency have already been ignored by the company. That is a temper tantrum with potentially disastrous consequences.

6. When he gave Kanye West's presidential run his 'full support'

In an election where the consequences were potentially four more years of Donald Trump, rapper Yeezus threw his hat into the ring just before people were about to head to the polls. At that time, West shared racist views with Donald Trump. Musk said that he thought we had more differences than he thought after West explained his positions.

5. His anti-union tweet

Bosses are not supposed to interfere with the decisions of workers about forming a union. So, of course, after the firing of an employee who was engaging in workplace organizing, Musk wrote on his website that he was perfectly allowed to form a union, but he didn't know how bad it would be for them. Musk was ordered by the National Labor Relations Board to take down the post.

4. The 'pedo guy' saga

A group of children were trapped in a cave. That led to a Musk scandal. Vernon Unsworth claimed that Musk's offers to help were a PR stunt. Musk reacted calmly and coolly by hiring a private investigator with a criminal record to look into Unsworth, baselessly accusing Unsworth of being a pedophile to BuzzFeed News, and then he went on to accuse Unsworth of being a pedo guy.

Musk won the right to insult people online with a legal defense that the pedo guy was just a generic insult.

3. His gross sexist joke

Musk proved he never took an HR workplace harassment training by making a joke about women's math abilities and boobs.

Wouldn't you love to work for a female boss like that?

2. Getting Covid completely wrong

The coronaviruses have not been a good time for Musk. He spread misinformation about testing at the beginning of the Pandemic and ended up contracting Covid.

He decided to defy government safety laws and open up the company to business. He criticized the Canadian government's safety measures that inspired the trucker boycott by using a Hitler meme. How could a man with so much power be so wrong?

1. Trying to buy Twitter... via tweet

Musk has styled himself a free speech warrior, and is trying to go on a crusade in the name of free speech by buying the company.

Musk was able to conclude that there is a free speech problem with the poll he posted. He acquired a majority stake in the company in a way that experts say netted him over $150 million by not properly reporting his stock purchases.

Musk made an offer to buy the company after he didn't get on the board. This has put Musk in the spotlight, and caused a stir around social media moderation.
