Kevin McCarthy said on Sunday that Russia probably wouldn't have invaded the country if the Biden administration had given weapons sooner.

While the United States is not sending troops to the country, the administration should have been more cautious about sending weapons overseas, according to the California Republican.

This is going to get stronger and rougher and what really needs to happen is that the Ukrainians don't want American men and women to fight, they want the weapons to defend themselves.

McCarthy claimed that if weapons had been transported to Ukraine earlier, thousands of lives could have been spared.

Had we moved the weapons to Ukraine earlier, it would have saved thousands of lives and probably the decision of Putin not to enter, he said.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the Biden administration has sent nearly $3 billion to the country as they have faced off against the Russians.

More than 5,000 Javelin anti-armor systems, more than 1,400 Stinger anti-aircraft systems, and an additional 7,000 anti-armor systems have been sent by the US to Ukraine since the conflict began, according to the Department of Defense.

In addition, the administration has sent over 50 million rounds of weapons, along with small arms and counter-mortar radar systems.

McCarthy criticized the administration for not allowing the transfer of fighter jets to Poland. The transfer of fighter jets is something for Poland to decide, according to US lawmakers.

It's not our decision to make, it's Poland's decision, and there's a question as to how effective they would be.

The Pentagon rejected an offer from Poland to transfer fighter jets to the US. The proposal raises serious concerns for the entire NATO alliance, according to Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.

McCarthy said the move was a missed opportunity.

The president denied both Poland and Ukraine for providing the weapons. He said that all of that is a wrong action going forward.
